ten on ten: March 2014

Happy March 10th!

When I'm good and I remember, every 10th of the month I link up with a bit of sunshine to capture 10 blessings in my day through pictures.

a new york state of mind

We spent this past weekend in Long Island, NY visiting some family.

It was our first time flying with a toddler, and on the way out, we had a 3 hour delay...yikes! Thank goodness Lucy and Jrob have so much fun together-they entertained themselves all 3 hours.

She actually did really great on the plane. (Only one tiny meltdown each way.) Nothing a lolipop or a cousin couldn't fix.

We did skip a lot of naps and stay up late, and we had one tired little dumpling. But, oh, the fun we had!

Shopping at a NY Deli

We had such a fun trip- it wore us all out but it was so worth it!

polar vortex

Did your heater survive the polar vortex?

Here in NC it was cold. Ice on the inside of your windows cold.

So I decided I would share some oober cute pictures of Lucy all bundled up. Because nothing warms your heart and makes you squeal (and think of a Christmas story) more than a child stuffed into a puffy warm coat, a hat and mittens.

I melt...

2014 in Focus

Happy 2014!

My Resolution for 2014 is going to be focus.

Focus on being present. I am going to be intentional with my time with Lucy (and my family), because she is literally growing up before my eyes. Put away my phone more, get yogurt kisses in my hair, and run outside with her.

Focus on tidiness. I will make time to clean and organize (even though, ugh, I hate it.) The dog gets more baths, my floors get mopped more, and I might just paint some walls in my house I have been putting off for years.

Focus on what I eat. Just like most New Year's resolutions, I indulged a great deal over the holidays and its time for a cleanse. More portion control, green veggies, and less cookies. (But I can still have wine, ok?)

What is your Resolution for the new year?

Goodbye, 2013

It has been a big year, watching a squirmy baby grow into a wild and sweet toddler. When I look back at her baby pictures I can't believe how teeny she used to be. And how good she was at staying in one spot as a baby.

Aunt MiMi became a nurse...

Lucy mastered the very wobbily art of sitting.

And standing..

We spent many days at the beach and Lucy enjoyed a little sand in her toes (and her mouth).

Right around July Lucy learned how to walk...and run.

Our Fall was full of Birthday's, trick-or-treating, and hamming it up for the camera as much as possible.

Happy New Year! We can't wait to see what fun 2014 will be!

thankful tuesday

Happy Thanksgiving week! I'm back with three simple things of thanks...beautiful moments among the ordinary, every Tuesday from me to you. As you are looking forward to a day full of family, food, and maybe some retail shopping, what are YOU thankful for?

"Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving." -W.T. Purkiser

one: a bonus day with my little bit. She was up sick last night, so I stayed home with her today, and I'm loving all the extra squeezes I get to get in when I should be at work. (Plus, she's feeling better-double thanks!)

two: Furry rain boots on a cold and rainy day. Thank you Costco.

three: moments of peace and a fur blanket.

thankful tuesdays

Three simple things of thanks...beautiful moments among the ordinary every Tuesday from me to you.

"It is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy." -Unknown

one: A beautiful weekend celebrating the littlest sis' birthday in Winston-Salem. {Hello, sir in the back}.

two: A beautiful 70 degree mini-break to thaw out from the cold. And a cooperative fat dog who lets a baby bury her in leaves.

three: imagination, through the eyes of a one year old. A cabinet is a hiding spot, a colander is a kaleidoscope, and the stairs make an excellent tummy slide. Seeing the world through her little eyes is amazing and hilarious.
