This Christmas was so incredibly fun. Having children at Christmas time is amazing, endlessly exciting, and exhausting all mushed together. </div>

This was the first year Lucy had specific requests from Santa: a doll that looked like Lucy and a Hippopotamus. She was also worried she might cry when she met santa, but decided "I'm going to be brave so Nora will be brave, too." We got the sweetest picture of them in his lap. I'm not going to lie, I kind of wanted a screaming baby pic, because, they are hilarious. (But I'll take adorable, too.) </div>

She's also started pulling up to standing, and is a little babbling baby. We hear mama, dada and baba on the repeat, and I swoon at those sounds again! She is attempting some baby sign, but so far it just seems like she is playing with her hands.<br />

With crawling, she has gotten incredibly curious. She started out timid at first, but now, every space is her tunnel, and the Christmas tree lights a new teething toy. She started crawling the day after Christmas, and we quickly took the tree down (teeth and electricity don't mix well.)<br />

<br />
Sweet Nora. You are now 5 months old! Sometimes the days fly by and sometimes in the middle of a screaming night I wonder when you are going to big like your sister and we are all going to sleep. But I promise not to wish the days away.<br />
<br />When you are happy you are squealing with delight so loud that it can be heard throughout the whole house! And when you are mad....lookout world.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to see where this passionate side of you takes you one day! (Maybe you'll be an actress or a politician.)<br />
<br />
When I pick you up, you lay your head down on my shoulder as if to give me a hug and I just melt. And when you cry you say mamamamama, I suppose because you know i can fix it! You adore your big sister. She makes you laugh and smile no matter what sort of mood you are in-and mom and dad use that to our advantage!!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
You have started solid foods for the first time and it's fun to see what you like/don't like compared to your sister! The jury is still out on a few veggies because of your sensitive little tummy, but I'll find a way to get you to eat them one day!<br />
<br />Gagworthy:<br />
Green Beans<br />
<br />
Like:<br />Peaches<br />
Pears<br />
Applesauce<br />
Peas<br />

There are only 8 today because I got a new phone and 2 of my pictures disappeared in Verizonland. </div>

The 10th was full of chunky baby smiles, first day of preschool friends and my new favorite Podcast: Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey. Listen to it, y'all. You will feel like you are sitting down at Happy hour with a couple of girlfriends and you won't want it to end. </div>

<span style="text-align: left;">This little sweetie is 4 months old! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sweet Nora, you are a happy, delighted little child. You love to be snuggled and to be in the center of the action wherever you are. You go with the flow most days. We now think you have reflux, as our calm happy little baby turned into quite the screamer overnight at 4 months. You can roll both ways now, but most of the time you prefer to just hang out on your back (and you love to sleep on your back!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You are nowhere near sleeping through the night, but sometimes I groggily treasure those midnight moments with just the two of us. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You squeal {loudly} when you're happy and you scream when you're mad/sad. We can't wait to see the little person you are going to grow into!</div>

Between a 3 month old who recently started rolling this way and that, and a 2.5 year old who needs "one more kiss and hug" every 30 minutes we are wiped.<br />
<br />
So when the people at Sleeping Baby Inc. graciously shared their Zipadee-Zip Slumber Sack with us to try, I was thrilled!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia7B_DHyFkW7DneD3HKzo7TT-Jjg7LXbkuaLukpSj1lZey5YuFR8hYY-Ph1JCdGsa4OF9lih-WiObkKmgk_TyACAfyG3a1g23bjWJs589V1_8aLJR6EdmRi0xYolmhFKNkMTnN6424ywak/s1600/zipadee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia7B_DHyFkW7DneD3HKzo7TT-Jjg7LXbkuaLukpSj1lZey5YuFR8hYY-Ph1JCdGsa4OF9lih-WiObkKmgk_TyACAfyG3a1g23bjWJs589V1_8aLJR6EdmRi0xYolmhFKNkMTnN6424ywak/s640/zipadee.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Zipadee-Zip (Or Zippy) is perfect for a baby who is going through <a href="http://zipadeezip.com/">swaddle transition</a> who likes to bust out of her swaddle 800x a night. It's made of a soft cotton in a starfish-type design with adorable prints. The arms have a smidge of resistance, similar to swaddling to help with the startle reflex. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhelQiLA80h2DFlTCIXcZNFZ1ctKqKv9fzn7RqT6ULDD-L8DAeeBOWhklg8ltaWt-skiTPMSr3lBcSl2QoYmZF78xpOxzRk-tWUr7247tByMY_yMe-ec78OGSfYZgXWGqAyI_DeIZn4AXt6/s1600/zippy5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhelQiLA80h2DFlTCIXcZNFZ1ctKqKv9fzn7RqT6ULDD-L8DAeeBOWhklg8ltaWt-skiTPMSr3lBcSl2QoYmZF78xpOxzRk-tWUr7247tByMY_yMe-ec78OGSfYZgXWGqAyI_DeIZn4AXt6/s640/zippy5.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You have to <a href="https://zipadeezip.com/our-story/">read their story</a>: Stephanie and Brett, Christian entrepreneurs, created the entire concept to help their baby sleep through the night! And now their amazing company has spread by word of mouth alone. Truly wonderful!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-Y6SqRVuDRpYDbTs1AWP90e0gQ2cySkBEr4QK2lBxHZMX8teLwiQwjuxXjGounaQbGvFN9sJReiwz5Y7SIAtLjxX_ATDFxKESRipZyJ0QzV7k_wkOdWt66P5BXmkURZIQwq3ODquvXcnO/s1600/zippy3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-Y6SqRVuDRpYDbTs1AWP90e0gQ2cySkBEr4QK2lBxHZMX8teLwiQwjuxXjGounaQbGvFN9sJReiwz5Y7SIAtLjxX_ATDFxKESRipZyJ0QzV7k_wkOdWt66P5BXmkURZIQwq3ODquvXcnO/s640/zippy3.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It took a couple of nights for Nora to adjust to her new sleeping facility but now she is smitten with the Zippy. She will be fussing and crying for sleep, and I zip her up in the Zippy, and she is instantly happier and ready for a snooze.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sometimes I can even set her down in the crib drowsy in her zippy and she falls asleep on her own. I also love that it keeps her little hands warm, because we keep our house a nice frigid 68 degrees. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are now converted Zipadee-Zip lovers in this house! </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSRyVvTMbY-_nJMRNMcPiquGElkMFQPPlIsNZZeoXO4Aq8T8JXkKxvaEqvtzY6X71c44yfU2EnvTeKEshfDntPWioX-mvFtJrJtY2uOkO-S9gmkm2Rjzu1_3OcDcK4QYWtkjKoCyTROVU1/s1600/0-3+month+favs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSRyVvTMbY-_nJMRNMcPiquGElkMFQPPlIsNZZeoXO4Aq8T8JXkKxvaEqvtzY6X71c44yfU2EnvTeKEshfDntPWioX-mvFtJrJtY2uOkO-S9gmkm2Rjzu1_3OcDcK4QYWtkjKoCyTROVU1/s640/0-3+month+favs.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
one: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Baby-KTan-Bundle-Carrier-Eggplant/dp/B00I9E28EK/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1436640438&sr=8-11&keywords=k%27tan">k'tan.</a> So helpful in the early days to give attention to a 2 year old and to still have arms available. I also used it the other day to carry a sleepy baby around the grocery store while pushing a cart full of groceries and a 2 year old in it. (And nobody cried. K'tan FTW.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
two:<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Boogie-Wipes-Unscented-Count-Pack/dp/B00G9NG14G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436641153&sr=8-1&keywords=boogie+wipes"> Boogie Wipes.</a> Nora has had a clogged tear duct since she was born. I followed the recommended "warm wash cloth" for the first 200 or so swipes and then decided these would be a much easier solution. Great for eye "goopies" as we call them in our house.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
three: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Handy-Stroller-Handle-Silver/dp/B00DYOQNNM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436641231&sr=8-1&keywords=oxo+stroller+hook">stroller hook.</a> I stole this one from a friend of mine after watching her grocery shop with her baby and a stroller and some reusable bags. It's perfect for hanging your bags to fill with groceries, OR a very clever way to make your toddler stay with the stroller, by holding on the handle. Lucy loves it!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
four: <a href="http://www.coveredgoods.com/collections/frontpage/products/copy-of-navy-ivory-stripe">Covered Goods Nursing Cover.</a> I am in l-o-v-e with this nursing cover. It goes around you 360 degrees, which I find useful when nursing a baby while chasing a toddler at the park (no side boob flashes to other park goers.) It's lightweight and soft, and gorgeous. Can also be used to cover the carseat, as a grocery cart cover or a scarf. I actually left mine at the beach last weekend and nearly cried because I love it so.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
five:<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Honest-Company-Sunscreen-Lotion-2-pack/dp/B00UR6HH5I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436641648&sr=8-1&keywords=honest+sunscreen"> Honest sunscreen</a>. So I know the whole "Don't put sunscreen on your baby till they are 6 mo old" shpeal. But let's talk about real life with a toddler. Summer= pool + beach + park + everything outside. So after testing this completely organic and happy sunscreen on Nora's wrist and finding no reaction, I use it when necessary on all the things I cant cover up with clothes or a hat. Because sunscreen beats sunburn every day in my book. {Also, Costco has a 2-pack right now!}</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, there you have it!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What have your favorites been in 0-3 months with your first/second/third baby? I'd love to hear! (And possibly steal some more ideas.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our sweet little chunk is 3 months old already! With a quarter of a year under her belt, she LOVES smiling, talking babytalk loudly, and rolling all over the place (both ways). She even likes laying on her belly. She loves watching the fishies in the fish tank, and seeing what her big sis is up to. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
During our photoshoot this morning, Lucy was not to be outdone and insisted she got a picture too. So here, she is 2.5 years (34 months for those keeping track).</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Likes: The color blue, Disney Princesses, helping fetch mommy diapers, turning on Nora's sound machine, reading books, swimming at the pool, and pretending she is a mommy with her babydoll. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After Lucy's turn in the picture chair, she stole my phone to snap a pic of her baby. {I have no idea how old baby is.}</div>
<br />
I'm really liking the angle of her shot.<br />

Lucy is recently fascinated with all things rainbow. We color rainbows with sidewalk chalk, markers, you name it, it becomes a rainbow. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So one day this week when making her some pre-mixed muffins, we decided to rainbow them up.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQSeoBnhIq_3-mJBsRyL9pptegM0ZhpLGEKAr-xmKvEO0yI9VfA6U64bkoJ-BACwIO1YKg9n5qjbZa3pWn1m5brbkBv8ZO8Cl7lsK4dl_mjs8EdlfFJ6MxOn7Lf7IlFpHzA1Tn0UBfNiov/s1600/muffin3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQSeoBnhIq_3-mJBsRyL9pptegM0ZhpLGEKAr-xmKvEO0yI9VfA6U64bkoJ-BACwIO1YKg9n5qjbZa3pWn1m5brbkBv8ZO8Cl7lsK4dl_mjs8EdlfFJ6MxOn7Lf7IlFpHzA1Tn0UBfNiov/s640/muffin3.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
She loves to help me bake. {Sorry dear, mom is not the greatest baker.} But I sure can mix milk into apple cinnamon muffin mix.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After mixing our muffins up, I let Lucy drop different color drops into each muffin cup. She got to pick the colors we were making, and then mix them up with a straw. (Toothpicks would work too!)</div>
<div>
<br />Then we followed the directions on the package for baking them.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH1uef96pwotVPZhxG3wxah_ibLLjuMkLVdRohHsVSFeTIh-N0NkIO-_Ulln2wHbtYm7NYYmALZ-bgeR0uf_2SrdfHrF3cO1tF4Xqu4dbehGydfEhDfbb-XW9n-FZJ8YNfPY6lfZsFufGx/s1600/muffin2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH1uef96pwotVPZhxG3wxah_ibLLjuMkLVdRohHsVSFeTIh-N0NkIO-_Ulln2wHbtYm7NYYmALZ-bgeR0uf_2SrdfHrF3cO1tF4Xqu4dbehGydfEhDfbb-XW9n-FZJ8YNfPY6lfZsFufGx/s640/muffin2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It may be blurry but I managed to catch her reaction when I pulled them out of the oven. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Just a teeny bit "cited".</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQS4mVExr_H8AV9Yj8jMQFaKo3r4zmvnmyc5BlvXjA15UoPNDyrgXRyzbs1lGRe6B4wLUNdVTAL_yx6wdDMvlIylnSJCe4F-y2GTh4ySAiTK_be8rj4i9H0jEdcNfwUIt-jWg-95DZxA24/s1600/muffin1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQS4mVExr_H8AV9Yj8jMQFaKo3r4zmvnmyc5BlvXjA15UoPNDyrgXRyzbs1lGRe6B4wLUNdVTAL_yx6wdDMvlIylnSJCe4F-y2GTh4ySAiTK_be8rj4i9H0jEdcNfwUIt-jWg-95DZxA24/s640/muffin1.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The hardest part of the whole process? Trying to convince a 2.5 year old that she couldn't eat ALL of the muffins we made right now.</div>

March 26th Nora Josephine joined our family and we couldn't be happier. Here is her birth story...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicyaINmKeFs0ygQx-xfHKPiSA5GlcGl_uy0iP4312jIgaQIEPip4ILi9kqEwmMmmwNPR18kIsYIjg_x1EJppFum6ksGpaKARhoU6Z90NTVX87f5jel9KxoXpV2Ca0VYQuG6nT6pvzhwRYp/s1600/nora1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicyaINmKeFs0ygQx-xfHKPiSA5GlcGl_uy0iP4312jIgaQIEPip4ILi9kqEwmMmmwNPR18kIsYIjg_x1EJppFum6ksGpaKARhoU6Z90NTVX87f5jel9KxoXpV2Ca0VYQuG6nT6pvzhwRYp/s1600/nora1.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
On March 26, 2015 at around midnight, I woke up 3 days before my due date, having to pee just like any 9 month pregnant lady.<br /><br />I heard Lucy cry from her bedroom that she needed to "go potty" so I walked her to the bathroom to potty. After she went, she insisted she "needed to give daddy one more kiss" so I obliged, carrying her in our bedroom on my very pregnant belly, leaning down over him so she could give him a kiss. At that moment, I felt a small gush and told Jack "I think my water just broke!" He jumped out of bed, ran Lucy to her bedroom to put her back to sleep and ran back in our room. He asked me if I was sure, and to be honest, when your water breaks, you really aren't sure, and I was trying to decide if I had peed myself (pregnant lady problems) and then it happened again, another gush. I insisted this was for sure my water, and I called the doctor while he rounded up our stuff.<br />
<br />
I started to have contractions while on the phone with my doctor, as my water kept gushing every 3-5 minutes, so he told me to go ahead and come to the hospital. We waited on my in-laws to come stay with Lucy and off we went. My contractions were much more manageable than they were with Lucy's back labor, and I had a few hours where I thought "I could do this without drugs." I was 2 cm when they triaged me and by about 5 am I was 4-5 cm. I changed my mind with each contraction about "doing this without drugs" and decided it was epidural time.<br />
<br />My epidural didn't take quite as well as it did with Lucy but it definitely took the top of the pain off! At 11:30 it was time to push, and with just a contraction or 2 and about 4 pushes later she was out! She came into the world screaming; (very different than her sister who came into the world quietly) our hearts were instantly full of love for our newest family member, sweet Nora Josephine.<br />
<br />

<br />
Lucy loves her little baby <strike>doll</strike> sister. She loves to help put her diaper on, bring me my nursing pillow, and to help pick out her clothes. She is very good at shhhhing, pushing strollers and showing her baby sister to the world.<br />
<br />

<br />
I can't wait to see their relationship grow as Nora becomes more interactive! Welcome to our family sweet girl, we are so happy to have you complete our little family of 4.<br />

<br />
<br />
Everyone ask if this pregnancy has been like my first. And since we are having another baby girl, I would think it would be similar.<br />
<br />
If pregnancy is any indication, I can already tell these girls are going to be different because my pregnancies have been very different!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I thought it would be fun to compare my 1st and 2nd pregnancies...Lord, I had no idea how good I had it with Lucy!<br />
<br />
<u>First trimester</u><br />
<i>First pregnancy: </i>morning sickness. Feel bad, lay on the couch, take a break. Eat lots and lots of carby foods to feel better.<br />
<br />
<i>Second pregnancy: </i>morning sickness. Feel really bad, put on cartoons to try and entertain toddler. Try to eat foods high in protein as toddler steals all of the food, thereby making my nausea worse. Chase toddler around the neighborhood, even though mommy just wants to lay down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX-V00-Bnv-gIn44FZRCZpVZcmlsz6b7snjA3eD1zaJdUw7PLuXGVcCHX0xGPjV3aMXS5eVhbKPQQZsaPVkdEYfpsnlWXPJ_01ZI48cM3H9U4dx90jn3NcMTAoo3zeTYXiTlrytXc1wakg/s1600/25weeksbaby1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX-V00-Bnv-gIn44FZRCZpVZcmlsz6b7snjA3eD1zaJdUw7PLuXGVcCHX0xGPjV3aMXS5eVhbKPQQZsaPVkdEYfpsnlWXPJ_01ZI48cM3H9U4dx90jn3NcMTAoo3zeTYXiTlrytXc1wakg/s1600/25weeksbaby1.JPG" height="320" width="214" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkj0EHkJH5SIDb0Nzg6hYiGVVXQOwpshBaeQuBnrsStEHBONBtjYBE8LQUTdvn-rxmDKtpDxWbviiFMoiC6HRTss6jpQDV5j3XVYw-0MTHbUFuM7wt288YNmkkBRNhKIvoej_ljn4ptBzw/s1600/25weeksbaby2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkj0EHkJH5SIDb0Nzg6hYiGVVXQOwpshBaeQuBnrsStEHBONBtjYBE8LQUTdvn-rxmDKtpDxWbviiFMoiC6HRTss6jpQDV5j3XVYw-0MTHbUFuM7wt288YNmkkBRNhKIvoej_ljn4ptBzw/s1600/25weeksbaby2.jpg" height="320" width="238" /></a></div>
<u><br /></u>
<u>Second Trimester</u><br />
<i>First pregnancy: </i>morning sickness subsides around 13 weeks, got a big surge of 2nd trimester energy, rested when I needed to and ate all of the food. Felt first baby kicks around 21 weeks (anterior placenta).<br />
<br />
<i>Second pregnancy: </i>morning sickness subsides around 18 weeks, waited and waited for "big surge of energy", never came. Napping at Lucy's nap time essential to surviving the afternoon with toddler. Felt first baby kicks around 17 weeks (posterior placenta).<br />
<br />
<u>Third Trimester</u><br />
<i>First pregnancy: </i>Swelling, swelling and more swelling. (It was one of the hottest summer's we've had in NC!) Counting down the days until baby's arrival. Putting the nursery together in a leisurely fashion. Nesting aka sewing all of the baby bibs, burp cloths and other random things for baby.<br />
<br />
<i>Second pregnancy: </i>No swelling yet-hallelujia! Still wearing wedding rings at 36 weeks. Counting down the days until sweet baby girl's arrival, but also counting down the days of one-on-one time with our first born and trying to soak all of those moments in. (While navigating tantrums and the "I do-it's.") Nesting aka putting together Lucy's big girl room and the nursery in a non-leisurely fashion during Lucy's nap time and bed time. <br />
<br />
Our second pregnancy has flown by! With just a few short weeks until baby girl #2 arrives, we are washing clothes, stocking diapers, and getting the carseat ready all while loving on Lucy in her last few weeks as a one and only. We can't wait to meet you baby girl, but if you take your time we don't mind a bit!<br />

<br />
<b>Our Potty Training Must-haves: </b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLM6mhhRndE-1r4Hc5fCqyBKy92gda3M_C0qnr7fzXM6D0L8nfG1j_7TLhgOS-1wxF_L8CbZQLoWOK6x3oMjqzKybfiCSAwuw0Wato2WOFZnMr4qWr9hQk7MyzguKBHNrbmIvcRVQ0l2nb/s1600/pottytraining.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLM6mhhRndE-1r4Hc5fCqyBKy92gda3M_C0qnr7fzXM6D0L8nfG1j_7TLhgOS-1wxF_L8CbZQLoWOK6x3oMjqzKybfiCSAwuw0Wato2WOFZnMr4qWr9hQk7MyzguKBHNrbmIvcRVQ0l2nb/s1600/pottytraining.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
1. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-BLR97-Potty-Training-Froggy/dp/B00CSAWJPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422908668&sr=8-1&keywords=frog+potty+chair">Potty Chair. </a> We have 2 bathrooms that are easily accessible to Lucy. We put a potty chair in one and a potty seat in the other, just to see which she preferred. (She seems to like both.)<br />
2. <a href="http://www.target.com/p/sesame-street-soft-potty-with-hook/-/A-13982787#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=sesame+street+potty+seat">Potty Seat.</a> Lucy and I went to Target together and picked her seat and panties out so that she could play a big part in potty training.<br />
3. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Frozen-Girls-Panties-2T-3T/dp/B00JXMSAEE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422909119&sr=8-1&keywords=frozen+panties+2t">Lots of Panties/Underwear.</a> We probably started with about 20 pairs. In the beginning we would go through about 3-4 a day because of accidents; and then there are the accidents where there is no recovering said panties from...<br />
4. M&M's as a reward {One for Pee and Two for Poo.} We used this reward system for 2-3 months, then stopped reminding her about her reward. If she still asked for one after she went, we would give her one, if not we let the reward fade away until she no longer needed it.<br />
5. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Deluxe-Piddle-Black/dp/B004U7OQWW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422909339&sr=8-1&keywords=piddle+pad">PiddlePad.</a> We have a Chicco NextFit and it's not the easiest thing to take apart to clean. This PiddlePad saved us on a few occasions with an accident in the car. (It's not perfect though-we did have a couple of accidents that the PiddlePad didn't catch.)<br />
6. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Everyone-Poops-My-Body-Science/dp/192913214X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422910443&sr=8-1&keywords=everyone+poops">Everyone Poops. </a>We read many, many books while waiting for the magic to happen on the potty. Our favorite was (and still is) Everyone Poops. It's so silly and perfect for potty training! We also read <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Potty-Me-Karen-Katz/dp/0689874235/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422910783&sr=8-1&keywords=a+potty+for+me">A Potty For Me. </a><br />
<br />
<u>What <i>didn't</i> work for us:</u><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>In this motherhood journey so far, I've learned how individual each child is with the milestones they reach, and potty training is no different! We tried potty training around 18 months and it didn't work for us, and started again after she turned 2 because Lucy seemed ready, and I truly believe you have to watch your child to see when <b>they</b> are ready. We knew she was ready because: </li>
</ul>
*she could tell us when she Peed/Pooped in her diaper <br />
*she could pull her pants up and down without a lot of assistance<br />
*she would go 1 or 2 times a day at daycare when they would take her<br />
<ul>
<li>The "Potty Train in 1 weekend" Idea. I started on a weekend when I had 3 uninterrupted days at home with her, but honestly it took 4-5 days before she would tell me she had to go on her own, and then lots of reinforcing in the days after.</li>
<li>Pull-Up style diapers. These were great for practicing pulling pants up and down but otherwise she still treated it like a diaper. </li>
</ul>
<u>What <i>worked</i> for us:</u><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Running out of pull-ups. We used pull-ups (or the Target brand) during the day so she could practice pulling up/down her pants. When we tried potty training the first time I got so frustrated with the amount of pee and poop all over my house that I gave up and we just gave up and kept on using the pull ups. One weekend, I ran out, and decided if I didn't have any pull-ups to fall back on then maybe we could pull it off. And we did!</li>
<li>Delaying Night-time potty training. I am pregnant, y'all. And I need my sleep. So we decided to hold off on night-time potty training until I have the energy. She wakes up dry sometimes after nap and never after going the whole night, so I took this as a sign that we weren't ready for that part yet. </li>
<li>Timing potty time with a timer the first 3 days. I used my iPhone timer and we would go every 30 minutes the first day, 45 minutes the 2nd day, 1 hour the 3rd and by the 4th day I waited for her to tell me (with me reminding her by asking "do you need to go potty?") </li>
<li><b>Patience</b>. This is not a magical thing, y'all. After we had "successfully" potty trained, she still had poo accidents at school every day for about a month. We finally had to get her a special snowman PEZ dispenser that she would earn after she pooped in the potty at daycare. We reminded her about it every day, made a HUGE deal about it, and about 2 weeks later she was very proud when she had finally earned it! She has also had rare accidents outside playing or in the car, but patience has been the biggest life saver. Coming to terms with the fact that it is not a perfect science, and that accidents will (and can) happen has helped my sanity more than anything! </li>
<li>Carrying around an extra pair of pants/panties...just in case!</li>
</ul>
<div>
I hope this helps any of you mammas out there who are trying to tackle the potty-training beast! It is messy and crazy but so worth the pride your little one gets when they can do it themselves, and you know, the whole cost savings of not buying diapers...</div>

Lucy has learned to dress herself and is very opinionated lately about what she wears. The flashier the better!<br />

We have been spending most of our cold January indoors snuggling and playing. Although I can't wait for hot sunny summer days, I wouldn't mind a few snowflakes. If it's going to be cold, it might as well snow, right??Domestic Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11012066148736783137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7299110563946813378.post-2116727015869794652015-01-05T15:54:00.003-05:002015-01-05T15:54:53.395-05:00Happy 2015!I can't believe it's 2015 already! Yes, I will say this every year, but time is just speeding by.<br />

Last year, I wrote about my resolution for 2014 to <a href="http://mcwonderful.blogspot.com/search/label/resolutions">Focus</a>. To put my phone down more, play with Lucy more, to clean my house more and to eat better. 3 out of 4 accomplished and down, I decided to shake things up for 2015. (Well, 4 out of 4 if you count the house cleaners I got as a gift for Christmas!)<br />

With our lives changing drastically (again) in 2015, this year I decided my one word Resolution will be <i><b>Rest</b></i>.<br />
<br />
We will be welcoming our 2nd baby girl in March, and as I just entered my 3rd trimester, I am taking every opportunity to <b>rest</b>. Sleeping in when I can, and napping when I can.<br />
<br /><b>Rest</b>ing with our only child for 3 more months. I will be her jungle gym, her story-teller, and her lap to sit in (although the lap space is shrinking every day) and soak up every one-on-one minute with her that I can.<br />
<br />
I am also hoping this new little joy of ours also hears my resolution to <b>rest</b>. Perhaps she will decide it is her New Years Resolution as well. {To be excellent at sleeping. }Ha!<br />
<br />
What's your one-word Resolution for 2015?Domestic Divahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11012066148736783137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7299110563946813378.post-65762983741935442392014-12-03T12:51:00.002-05:002014-12-03T12:51:45.874-05:00Happy December!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My favorite month of the whole year has arrived! And with it, a special little Elf from the North Pole.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Santa mailed the Elf to us on December 1st and it was waiting on the front porch for Lucy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(Unfortunately the elf who helped to wrap the present was very sick so she didn't do her most-creative present wrapping.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lucy opened her gift from Santa, and we read the book all about the Elf who came to visit our house for Christmas. When it was time to pick a name, Lucy wanted to call it "baby" (perhaps because every time we ask her what her new baby sister's name should be, she calls it "baby"), or suggested the name "ummmmmm". We made a group decision to name him Mr. Pickles this year. </div>

Do you have an Elf at your house? What sort of mischief does he get himself into?</div>

Halloween with a 2 year old is amazing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6_hx0PpFCf9AGfr6w_8mufJo1hwtsMFr7nB_xaUBMup_CWMe5WFKKzsKdFYnGTB6NhJZWpgpJ8H1gfIYoVOP1700gHAULbEOmXEVzY7u9RoVPr4EN9oOxGRCxuoEO8RgdlDck87F8qU3O/s1600/ladybug2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6_hx0PpFCf9AGfr6w_8mufJo1hwtsMFr7nB_xaUBMup_CWMe5WFKKzsKdFYnGTB6NhJZWpgpJ8H1gfIYoVOP1700gHAULbEOmXEVzY7u9RoVPr4EN9oOxGRCxuoEO8RgdlDck87F8qU3O/s1600/ladybug2.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
On the days leading up to Halloween, I was busy making Lucy's ladybug costume and busy being worried that on the day of, she would flat out tell me "no" that she did not want to wear the costume that mommy put hours of work into.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I hyped up Halloween like crazy, talking about what a cool ladybug she would be, with a sparkly tutu and how she would go around to all the neighbors houses who would then give her candy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQpXktHLQbt1JPAE8wiSQbjANNW7pQ25SEj40egeFe75IE36bl0gDvd8VL87AfalBU5-qlHe8i4PXL22GhsNhTfjgvjhUGE7y3Ir5SlZrjZHD-en3vZlCycrvyKUg0W2i3JqIq8L82YOk1/s1600/ladybug.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQpXktHLQbt1JPAE8wiSQbjANNW7pQ25SEj40egeFe75IE36bl0gDvd8VL87AfalBU5-qlHe8i4PXL22GhsNhTfjgvjhUGE7y3Ir5SlZrjZHD-en3vZlCycrvyKUg0W2i3JqIq8L82YOk1/s1600/ladybug.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
She was stoked. So stoked, in fact that on Halloween I told her she would get to go trick-or-treating after naptime. So during "naptime" she jumped around her crib and did flips and kept asking to "go trick-or-treat". She played like that for an hour and 45 minutes until she konked out and fell asleep.<br />
<br />
Praise. the. Lord. (I kept picturing us taking her trick-or-treating sans-nap while she cried/hated it/wanted to go night-night.) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip3l9BFsiEnd1SRWG8ap-zV3UY549F6HUVbtqYuBtCYQdy2j1g_h9ac48mRh7amvsNQk_uIz_Frvl8VvMqHDnWVxSkEzZCdp4WWykHlsJ05hUQFwkxiWmlsIcMBQ_VhvrpsyxaAXPlXBVv/s1600/lucyhalloween.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip3l9BFsiEnd1SRWG8ap-zV3UY549F6HUVbtqYuBtCYQdy2j1g_h9ac48mRh7amvsNQk_uIz_Frvl8VvMqHDnWVxSkEzZCdp4WWykHlsJ05hUQFwkxiWmlsIcMBQ_VhvrpsyxaAXPlXBVv/s1600/lucyhalloween.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Our neighborhood had a big potluck in the cul-de-sac, so we filled our bellies up before taking the hike for candy. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinPoF0eZNm9J9Z5U_r10j-h1r1jTmdJsFH3v5aEYkXmeN_4XBKHGW_vZDT4RvtvGM-8Hx2nyMvByNLQR0q3T13Ga0tbq5vSszFwMw1MtCnOY9nLHtUjCgBtzA0c1c15sfWsrQj5N17CaAD/s1600/doorbell.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinPoF0eZNm9J9Z5U_r10j-h1r1jTmdJsFH3v5aEYkXmeN_4XBKHGW_vZDT4RvtvGM-8Hx2nyMvByNLQR0q3T13Ga0tbq5vSszFwMw1MtCnOY9nLHtUjCgBtzA0c1c15sfWsrQj5N17CaAD/s1600/doorbell.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
She got the hang of the whole ringing the doorbell thing fast, and was even generous enough to give some candy back to people when they came to greet her. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSb8-ftqlhowpXxpXyaDt_i2FB3z-iVIaGlSSdKFJrRlWlec5sob_EfHTCri1JCailrRQFxZMTyj7SO3UDtwuGLnXI4Cuc6pjucsXo1YCNuCMTxHvgCA0EhQ3sAxxN0rtSw2Vkcuum7CvL/s1600/candyelmo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSb8-ftqlhowpXxpXyaDt_i2FB3z-iVIaGlSSdKFJrRlWlec5sob_EfHTCri1JCailrRQFxZMTyj7SO3UDtwuGLnXI4Cuc6pjucsXo1YCNuCMTxHvgCA0EhQ3sAxxN0rtSw2Vkcuum7CvL/s1600/candyelmo.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It got too dark for pictures, but we ended up toting 3 2-year olds around in a wagon to go door-to-door. A few lollipops and m&m's to keep them awake, and they were squealing and giggling and laughing all around the neighborhood. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
One of the most amazing things about having a child, is witnessing the joy of the Holidays through their eyes. It's a billion times better than enjoying it yourself. </div>
<div>
<br />
Plus, you can share costumes if you end up going to a last minute Halloween party...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
